We are the now more than the online women’s style go-to guide, venturing into the wonderful world of Men’s!

The Beginning

The Nine Forty Nine, now The 949 Style Guide,  began on a random November morning at 9:49 AM. Dyandra Brown, the founder and editor in chief, woke up one morning and said to herself, “I would like to create an informative and personalized blog about style and fashion. After persistence and dedication, ” The 949 Style Guide has now evolved into a budding website which highlights clothing, accessories, exclusive interviews, fashion news, designers and celebrities all with a unique twist.

Dyandra Brown

Dyandra Brown graduated with a degree in Economics from Spelman College. Along with her professional studies she always had a strong interest in fashion and an innate sense of style. Dyandra nurtures this passion by styling herself,  loyal clientele and friends. In addition, she now works in the business side of retail/fashion as an assistant buyer. Dyandra never hesitates to inform all about fashion and it’s rich history.  She has always had an eye for things that are unique and noteworthy, setting her apart from trends and the norm. She lives by her quote “Style is Fashioned around Individuality,” believing that fashion doesn’t have just one face; it’s universal and unique to each person.

Coming from a family who were immensely tied into fashion, Esther Lee is following her instinct in what comes to her natural hobby; fashion! Currently studying Fashion Marketing at The Art Institute of Philadelphia, Esther originally had plans to professionally study piano. Over time, her devout interest in style and fashion became her main focus. In the future, Esther hopes to become a stylist or buyer within the fashion and retail industries. In the meantime, Esther is immensely focused on completing her Bachelor’s degree and hopes to pursue her Master.  Having an admiration for anything and everything that is unique, she is always on the hunt to see what’s new and upcoming in the fashion world. This is what makes her a major contributor to The 949 Style Guide!
