Kanye West is an artist that will definetly take risks when it comes to fashion. I had the pleasure of attending the Watch The Throne Concert in Dallas, TX last night. Being literally two feet away Kanye allowed me to snap a few photos of his saavy street style. He is not afraid to take mens fashion to a unique level, using layering and color to GQ his look!
Men’s Fashion is on the rise, with shows and trends becoming the talk of the industry. Kanye West has been rocking a leather kilt, as he tours with Jay-Z from city to city. It has caused quite a controversy; creating both fans and naysayers. He changed into a rocker chic look for his solo time on stage. Kanye started with a pair of black leather pants. Leather pants on men can look suave when accessorized properly. Notice that his pants are the perfect fit, not to loose yet breathable. He layered a Michael Jackson inspired red leather jacket over a grey distressed henley. When adding a spike detailed plaid shirt, dimension and unique additions come into play. By simply tying this shirt around his waist a whole new look is created! It is always the simple details and out of the box additions that make or break an ensemble.
Kanye West’s first and main outfit consisted of the same leather pants and a kilt. The kilt stretched back the the 16th century, originally used a shoulder drape. The small kilt, also referred to as a walking kilt, didn’t evolve until the 17th or early 18th century. The world kilt comes from Scottish tongue meaning tuck up clothes around the body. Only men wore kilts, which may have been the inspiration for Kanye’s contemporary version. He layered a leather kilt over complimentary pants. Jean Paul Gautier unveiled a men’s leather kilt for his Spring 2012 RTW collection. Kanye wore large t shirt, which created a more urban appeal. I admire fashion risks, and this was one worth taking!
