Exclusive Interview

The 949: What motivated you to begin your own line of footwear?
Fever:      As everyone I think your talent is derived at a young age. I have always been fascinated with materials, textiles, and colors at a young age. I continuously had a sneaker fetish which then turned into stiletto problem as I continued to age

The 949: How and why was the name Fever chosen?
Fever:      Actually my Best Friend Amanda McIntyre named it. She said it’s simply because the shoes are always Hot, and we rolled with it!

The 949: Do you design all of Fever’s fabulous footwear?
Fever:      Yes, I do.

The 949: How were you able to manage school and being the owner of a shoe boutique?
Fever:        I am definitely not a stranger to hard work, dedication, nor determination. Being raised by a single phenomenal woman consistently working 2-3 jobs, hard work was the “norm”.  My mother was able to do that and still maintain. Quote un quote “normal life” never missing a basketball game, providing home cooked meals, and spending quality time with me and my sister. So to answer your question it is embedded in me and has provided the foundation for my success.

The 949:  As a fellow graduate of the Atlanta University Center I am aware of the camaraderie present amongst the students. Did they serve as major consumers during the start of your business?
Fever:      Not financially, which was probably due to the location, which was in Albany, GA. However physically the AUC did provide great support at fashion shows.

The 949: What do you want your consumers to feel when wearing Fever shoes?
Fever:      Exclusivity! Fashion is about taking risks, and at fever we pair risk, with quality, and femininity. Fever is bold yet classy with a commitment to quality that won’t break the bank!!!Fit for both the trend setter and the woman who favors classic femininity… I never want them to feel like they can’t pay a bill if they purchase my shoes, or even want that to be an option.

The 949: What specific Fever shoe do you think a woman can’t live without and why?
Fever:       It would actually be my upcoming collection. They shoes are “all purpose”. They can be worn for any and every occasion.
The 949: What has been one of Fevers biggest seller and why?
Fever:      The Tiff, which is a style created in 2008 and now being recognized. I think the double open platform  “WOW’S” everyone.
The 949: What have been some of the biggest accomplishments for Fever?
Fever:      I can’t minimize any, they all have served a purpose. For experience and knowledge brings wisdom and success.

The 949: What have been some of the biggest setbacks for Fever?
Fever: The rewards are far greater than any of the setbacks, the fear is what is needed to overcome.

The 949: What was it like debuting your line of footwear during New York Fashion Week 2010?
Fever:      AMAZING!!! I was truly grateful to be asked to do it and I am still in shock!

The 949: You have quickly risen to success after following your passion. Do you have any words of inspiration for our readers?
Fever:      I definitely would not call it “quickly”.  I started this in 2004 and put my all into it, and I mean my all, and made it work.  With the climbing success of fever I have to continue to put God surround myself with positive people. My words for inspiration: “The best way to predict your future is to create it!”
The 949: Can we have a sneak peak of what is in store for upcoming collections?
Fever:      It’s definitely going to be a surprise, for all!
